Michael Totten is back from Iraq

... and he's got the pictures to prove it.

He was in Suleimaniya, part of Iraqi Kurdistan, one of Iraq's most liberal cities and the former site of one of Saddam's secret police headquarters (the mukhabarat) where torture and executions were carried out. He's got the pictures of the cells, the rape rooms, and the weapons they used against the Kurds. It turns out the Kurds left the building standing as a memorial and transformed the former Baathist headquarters into a museum of the genocide Saddam brought upon the Kurds. The pictures are amazing and the story will tear at your heart.

Go read it.
