Adventures of a first-time homeowner, pt. 5

This weekend's project is hanging Christmas lights. Yes they're Christmas lights; not "holiday" lights, not "festivus" lights, not "chrismahanakwanzica" lights. Christmas lights.

I was checking out the roof overhangs around the garage and found that the house's previous owner had hooks up. Sweet that'll make for easy hanging. Upon further inspection, the ~25 feet above the garage door is the only section that has hooks up. Crap. Nothing on the second story eaves or the high front porch overhang. Just the garage. Damn, I was hoping this was going to be easy. I have visions of Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation running through my head for some reason...

So it's off to the Target, Kmart, Lowe's and/or Home Depot to find Christmas lights. Wish me luck.

Maybe if I take a few electrical engineering classes, I can get something like this going (via Evil White Guy). How sweet would that be?

UPDATE: I still gotta get a tree too....

UPDATE 2, 12/5, 9AM: OK so I got lazy. I only put lights up over the garage. I didn't venture to the 2nd story yet. And still no tree, but I did fix a sprinkler... Dug it out of the ground and everything... That's my excuse and I'm stickin to it.

UPDATE 3: 12/9, 11:30AM: Looks like this guy's light show is getting national recognition. PunditGuy (via VodkaPundit) has the in depth report including how to buy the synchronizer to have your own light show and that the homeowner shut the show down after a car accident in front of his house. Craziness...
