This was interesting...
I'm the #4 Yahoo search for "muhammad comic bomb heads" and I've never even mentioned the cartoon that's caused so much controversy. So I figure give people what they are looking for. A rather tame cartoon to cause so much outrage. Fortunately much of Europe has come together in support of one another with Spanish and Irish papers joining the fray. And I've got to say good for them for sticking to their guns on this. Unfortunately the US called the cartoon offensive. I think the only reason it's been found to be offensive is perhaps that some Muslims might be beginning to realize that their religion has been hijacked by radical Islamofascists who only seem to be able to make their points with bombs and beheadings. US papers often print cartoons mocking Christianity, hell we make movies about it (Life of Brian, Saved, Dogma). We put up with "art" with crucifixes in blood and urine. Yet we manage not to riot. We'll protest, and maybe do a little name calling, but that's it. We only riot when our teams win their respective sport's championship. Which begs two questions... How messed up are our priorities, and who is more likely to riot should their team when the Superbowl? Seattle or Pittsburgh? I think Seattle's more likely to riot if they win, but that's just me. So Muslims out there, we respect your religion. We respect your belief and efforts to keep all images of Mohammed pure. But less violence, I think, when things happen that you don't like might earn you more respect and possibly yield a more favorable outcome from your point of view. |
